Religious Education
RE broadens our children’s knowledge and encourages them to embrace all beliefs.
As well as learning about key Bible stories, with a special focus on Christmas and Easter, we focus on festivals from Judaism, Islam and Hinduism.
By doing so, they learn about some of the beliefs and traditions represented in our school community. Meanwhile, individual pupils have the opportunity to discuss occasions that are special to them.
We also observe and handle religious artefacts together and visit places of worship where possible.
Reflection and Prayer Space
Mrs Williams, Head of RE, transformed her classroom into Chandlings’ very first Reflection and Prayer Space. Every class, from Reception through to Year 6, visited for a lesson to take part in activities which allowed space for thinking and, if they wished, for prayer. Children were encouraged to think about how special and unique they are in the history of the world, and contributed to a wall of personalised hand prints. The children described things they were worried about, or would like to see changed, and added them to the beautiful bubble tube.
