Maths
Maths is all around us. Our aim is to enable our children to develop their skills and knowledge so that they can explore and use it with confidence.
We want children to be competent, curious and enthusiastic mathematicians - so we encourage them to take risks in their thinking to solve problems.
In Prep, children learn with their Maths set teacher.
Throughout the school, practical and written work is carefully differentiated so that each child makes the best progress possible.
Our children enjoy a weekly school Maths competition and we also enter inter-school competitions, including the Primary Maths Challenge.
During our annual STEM Week, we highlight the vast range of careers involving Maths. In addition, we welcome visiting speakers to share their passion for the subject throughout the school year. We have recently enjoyed presentations by Dr John Williams from the Culham Fusion Centre, from Mr Bernard Stone who talked to us about the Fibonacci Sequence and from Tony Charles, a mathemagician.
